Who is the subject?
My subject is the band, Peace Of Kings. I am mostly going to focus
on the lead singer of the band, her name is, Katie Bainbridge-Webb. She looks
like your typical 19-year-old student. Music is a passion of hers that she
would like to make a living with some day.
What?
I want to take a look at this local band from Montreal and look at
what it’s like to be in this industry. They are a metal band and being the girl
singer of a metal band isn’t too common. I want to just focus and ask questions
on how she got into this kind of music and how she became a singer but for a
very short period of time and have more talk about what it’s like as a singer
who is starting with nothing and trying to get her band out there. I really
want to bring out the meaning of why this music thing is so important to her
and how long she plans on doing this for. I want to have Katie talking about
this and having the rest of the band in the background and practicing/talking
casually. Also, I want to get some outsiders as well so I want to just get some
fans to talk about the band and what they like about them. The video will be
black and white and lots of contrast.
Where?
In the place where they practice which is in one of their
basement. The basement isn’t too clean; it looks like a teenager’s hang out
place. I like that its not so clean because it just shows that they are kids
and that this is where they spend most of their time. It’s a pretty big space,
enough to fit all their equipment and not have it be cramped. There are florescent lights and no windows.
Why?
I chose to do this as my documentary because music photography is
what I love to do. I love being in that atmosphere and also helping out bands
and capturing what they love to do while doing what I love. I want to explore
what its like to be band and since I love music so much I want to bring out and
show what its like behind the scenes.
